The Episcopal Church

St. Peter’s is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, a family of Episcopal congregations in western Washington. We share in ministry together with our provisional bishop, The Most Reverend Melissa Skelton

St. Peter’s is also part of The Episcopal Church, a larger family of 108 dioceses (or geographical areas, each with its own bishop) in the United States, Europe, Central and South Americas, Micronesia, Taiwan and the Caribbean. The spiritual home of nearly 2 million people, The Episcopal Church is governed by General Convention and led by our Presiding Bishop, The Most Reverend Michael B. Curry

St. Peter’s is also part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, a global family of 85 million Christians whose roots lie in the Church of England. Although each of the 42 provinces of the Anglican Communion is autonomous, Anglicans (sometimes known as Episcopalians) share a similar pattern of prayer and worship grounded in The Book of Common Prayer. Along with other “Instruments of Communion,” the Anglican Communion is shepherded by the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Reverend Justin Welby
